Trzaskowski Dismisses Southern Hospital Management Following Scandals

Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski announced the immediate dismissal of the Southern Hospital’s entire management board on Thursday, appointing auditor Aneta Gomółka-Siembora to lead the facility amid deepening corruption allegations.

Leadership Overhaul and Accountability

Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski confirmed on the X platform that the entire management board of the Warsaw Southern Hospital has been removed. Aneta Gomółka-Siembora, an expert in healthcare auditing and public procurement, has been appointed as the new, sole president of the facility.

Her primary mandate is to facilitate full cooperation with investigative institutions to clarify irregularities in the hospital’s management. Trzaskowski stated that all doubts must be addressed transparently and that further personnel consequences are expected.

Investigation into Financial and Procedural Irregularities

The facility is currently under investigation following reports that Dawid Kacprzyk, an emergency department coordinator and former local politician, earned 1.6 million PLN while completing his anesthesiology specialization. Public outrage also stems from allegations that Civic Coalition politicians were granted priority medical access and bypasses of standard registration procedures.

Kacprzyk has since resigned from his political roles and membership in his party. Hospital authorities have filed a formal notice with the prosecutor’s office regarding potential financial misconduct. Meanwhile, the physician has returned 500,000 PLN to the hospital, and a review of 33 invoices is currently underway.

Wider Audit of Municipal Facilities

The Supreme Medical Chamber has initiated professional liability proceedings against Kacprzyk, specifically citing concerns that his medical duties were abandoned in favor of media and parliamentary appearances. The facility’s staffing schedules are under intense scrutiny.

City hall and the National Health Fund are conducting comprehensive audits of the hospital. Mayor Trzaskowski has further confirmed that these investigations will be expanded to include emergency departments across all municipal hospitals in Warsaw.
