Tusk Dismisses CPK Government Representative, Names Malepszak Successor

Prime Minister Donald Tusk has officially dismissed Maciej Lasek as the government’s representative for the Central Communication Port project, appointing Infrastructure Undersecretary Piotr Malepszak to take over the role.

The leadership transition

On Friday, June 19, the Ministry of Infrastructure announced changes to the government plenipotentiary position for the Central Communication Port (CPK). This role oversees the implementation of the Port Polska project, with appointments made directly by the Prime Minister under the 2018 CPK Act.

Maciej Lasek, who served as Secretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure, was dismissed from the post. His successor, Piotr Malepszak, previously served as an Undersecretary of State at the ministry, where he was responsible for rail transport.

Resignation at request

Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak confirmed to RMF FM that Lasek’s departure was granted at the official’s own request. Klimczak stated that he delivered the formal dismissal document to Lasek, noting that while the paperwork contained no specific justification, it was processed according to the outgoing minister’s wishes.

Maciej Lasek had held the plenipotentiary role since December 20, 2023. Prior to his recent infrastructure tenure, he served as Secretary of State at the Ministry of Development Funds and Regional Policy.

Scope of the Port Polska project

Port Polska is a multi-modal transport hub designed to integrate air, rail, and road networks. The project scope includes an international airport, a high-speed rail network, and a logistics center.

The first phase, scheduled for launch by 2032, includes the airport and a high-speed rail line connecting Warsaw, the transport hub, Łódź, and Wrocław. Prime Minister Donald Tusk has stated that the focus remains on execution and building a dense, high-speed rail network connecting all Polish regions and counties.
