Israel and Hezbollah Enact New Ceasefire Agreement

Israel and Hezbollah have implemented a new ceasefire starting Friday afternoon, with Israeli forces maintaining a buffer zone in Lebanon to address ongoing security threats and retaliate against potential violations.

Terms of the Ceasefire and Security Buffer

A new truce between Israel and Hezbollah came into effect on Friday at 4:00 PM local time. Despite the agreement, an Israeli Defense Forces spokesperson stated that Israeli soldiers will remain within a buffer zone in Lebanon as long as Hezbollah poses a direct threat to Israeli citizens, with full operational freedom to counter any hostility.

A high-ranking Israeli official confirmed the conditions, noting that if Hezbollah initiates attacks, the conflict will resume immediately. Two Hezbollah sources reported that their organization began complying with the ceasefire as soon as the terms were communicated.

Diplomatic Negotiations and Iranian Stance

The truce was facilitated by American and Qatari mediators following discussions involving Israel and Iran. This agreement follows recent accusations from Tehran, which claimed the United States bears responsibility for Israeli military actions in Lebanon.
