The prosecutor’s office has launched a preliminary investigation to gather evidence regarding alleged malpractice at Southern Hospital. Minister Waldemar Żurek stated that authorities will request all relevant documentation and conduct witness interviews to determine if any laws were broken.

Allegations and Whistleblower Reports

Reports suggest that a department head alerted hospital management and Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski in 2025 regarding Dawid Kacprzyk, then coordinator of the Emergency Department. The allegations claim Kacprzyk performed unauthorized procedures without proper supervision, despite lacking the required medical specialization.

Communication Disputes and Formal Procedures

The Mayor denied reading the specific notification, citing the volume of messages received via instant messaging. Minister Żurek emphasized the importance of following formal documentation channels for reporting such concerns, noting that informal communication could indicate personal familiarity rather than professional oversight.

Political Fallout and Administrative Changes

Following the emergence of these reports, Mayor Trzaskowski dismissed the hospital’s management board and supervisory council. Prime Minister Donald Tusk has requested a swift clarification of the case, which remains under the direct supervision of the Minister of Justice to ensure the process remains free from political pressure.
