Investigation into Attempted Infanticide
The Suwa艂ki District Prosecutor’s Office announced on Monday, June 22, that local prosecutors in August贸w are investigating a case of severe bodily harm inflicted upon a six-month-old infant.
According to prosecutor Wojciech Piktel, the father threw the infant to the floor on June 10. The child鈥檚 mother called for emergency services, and the baby remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Legal Charges and Court Decision
Following police intervention, both parents were detained. While the mother was questioned as a witness and released, the father faces charges of attempted murder and causing grievous bodily harm. The District Court in August贸w has approved a three-month detention for the suspect, who faces a potential sentence of 10 to 30 years or life imprisonment.
Prior Violence in August贸w District
This incident marks the second case of child violence in the district within six months. In January, a 41-year-old man attacked his 6-year-old daughter with a knife at his ex-partner’s home. The girl survived after receiving medical attention, and the assailant was placed in a psychiatric facility.
