Butyric Acid Attacks on Strawberry Stands: Reward Doubled for Perpetrator Identification

Owners of a strawberry kiosk in Luboń, near Poznań, have doubled the reward to 10,000 PLN for information leading to the perpetrator behind repeated vandalism involving corrosive butyric acid.

Escalating Reward for Information

The owners of the stall in Luboń have increased their reward for identifying the vandal from 5,000 PLN to 10,000 PLN. The stall, which has been targeted multiple times, continues to operate out of a temporary tent as the original structure remains unusable.

The owner stated that the decision to double the reward was made due to a lack of significant leads. She has publicly assured potential informants that both the police and the business owners guarantee complete anonymity.

Destruction Through Chemical Vandalism

According to the owners, perpetrators have repeatedly doused trade kiosks with butyric acid, a substance characterized by an intense, repulsive odor similar to rotting butter or vomit. The damage renders the wooden structures impossible to clean and requires their complete disposal.

Estimated losses currently stand at approximately 40,000 PLN. The owners reported that three kiosks at this location have been destroyed, with two additional incidents involving similar chemical attacks reported elsewhere in Luboń last year.

Suspect Patterns and Business Competition

Security footage reportedly shows a man in a tracksuit approaching the site from the direction of Poznań-Dębiec before fleeing in the same direction after the attack. The owners have noted a suspicious correlation, as a business owner from Kórnik reported a similar experience, suggesting a potential link to the same competitor.

The owner expressed hope that the police will effectively investigate this matter, noting that previous related cases were dismissed. Police are currently analyzing surveillance footage but have not yet identified a specific suspect.

Ongoing Law Enforcement Investigation

Local authorities are investigating the possibility of unfair competition as a motive. Officers have secured evidence and are awaiting laboratory results to confirm the exact composition of the substance used.

While the police have not disclosed further details for the sake of the investigation, the owners have announced their intention to pursue civil litigation to recover financial losses and address damage to their business reputation.
