Drunk Driver Arrested After Police Chase Through Warsaw

A Ukrainian national with a blood alcohol level exceeding 3 per mille was arrested near Legia Stadium on Monday evening after leading police on a chase through Warsaw streets.

The Pursuit Begins on Ostrobramska Street

The incident occurred on Monday, June 22, around 8:50 PM. Officers patrolling Ostrobramska Street observed an Opel driving in the bus lane toward Aleja Stanów Zjednoczonych and signaled for the driver to stop.

The driver ignored the lights and sirens, continuing to drive erratically by accelerating and slowing down. He eventually turned toward Wisłostrada, with officers in pursuit.

Arrest Near Legia Stadium

The chase concluded near Legia Stadium when the vehicle became trapped in traffic. Police successfully blocked the car at a bus loop, preventing further movement.

The driver abandoned the car and attempted to flee on foot toward the stadium but was apprehended by officers after a short chase. A breathalyzer test revealed his blood alcohol level was over 3 per mille.

Legal Proceedings Initiated

The suspect, a Ukrainian citizen, was taken into custody. Further legal proceedings will take place once he has sobered up.

The vehicle has been secured and towed to a police impound lot. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter.
