A Re-energized Visegrad Cooperation
During the first summit at the head-of-government level in over two years, Prime Minister Donald Tusk highlighted the potential for the V4 to set the agenda for European events. The meeting took place at the Royal Palace in Godollo, hosted by Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar.
Tusk expressed gratitude to Magyar for restoring hope that the Visegrad Group and its individual nations can regain significant influence in European affairs.
Unified Priorities for European Standing
According to Tusk, if V4 nations prioritize shared interests over divisions, European partners will be compelled to listen. He identified energy, migration, and agriculture, alongside shared history and geography, as the primary binding forces for the group.
The Path to Strategic Power
The Prime Minister emphasized that collective action is the key to confronting ideas from the largest continental powers. He noted that the group’s future as a significant force depends on a return to traditional methods of cooperation characterized by loyalty and mutual understanding.
The previous summit involving V4 heads of government occurred in February 2024, when Donald Tusk met with Robert Fico, Viktor Orban, and Petr Fiala in Prague.
