The morning commute on the Warsaw Metro was paralyzed after safety systems triggered an alarm regarding an unauthorized individual in the tunnels. Metro authorities were forced to halt operations on the southern section of the first line.
Anna Barto艅, spokesperson for Metro Warszawskie, confirmed that the alarm was activated automatically by infrastructure monitoring systems. The individual was subsequently located and escorted from the tunnels by a police patrol.
System Shutdown and Transport Disruption
Due to the incident, the Zarz膮d Transportu Miejskiego suspended train traffic between the M艂ociny and Politechnika stations. The closure affected ten stations, effectively halting transit across the Mokot贸w and Ursyn贸w districts.
Emergency Transit Arrangements
To mitigate travel difficulties, Warsaw Public Transport launched a replacement bus service operating between Politechnika and Kabaty. Buses followed routes through major thoroughfares, including Aleja Niepodleg艂o艣ci and Aleja Komisji Edukacji Narodowej.
A specialized tram replacement line, ZM2, was also established, running from Metro Wilanowska through Pu艂awska and Marsza艂kowska streets toward Plac Narutowicza.

The presence of unauthorized persons in metro tunnels remains a severe safety threat, necessitating an immediate stop to all train traffic until the area is cleared. Experts emphasize that the high-voltage equipment and control systems within the tunnels pose significant danger to both intruders and passengers.
