Trzaskowski Responds to Justice Minister Over Warsaw Southern Hospital Scandal

Justice Minister Waldemar Żurek announced receiving a formal letter from Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski concerning urgent investigative actions into the ongoing administrative and medical crises at Warsaw Southern Hospital.

Investigations into Hospital Management

Justice Minister Waldemar Żurek confirmed on Wednesday, June 24, that he received correspondence from Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski regarding immediate interventions at the facility. Prosecutors are scheduled to interrogate Dr. Emil Jędrzejewski, the former head of surgery, regarding a specific incident from July 31, 2025, involving an alleged lack of cooperation with hospital authorities.

Authorities are currently reviewing 32 separate cases linked to the hospital since 2023, ranging from medical malpractice to threats and misappropriation of funds. Of 12 death-related investigations, three resulted in a refusal to initiate proceedings, four were discontinued, and five remain active.

Allegations of Medical Malpractice

Dr. Emil Jędrzejewski has publicly alleged that patients at the hospital are dying due to unqualified personnel performing procedures. He claims that medical errors, often occurring under the supervision of Dawid Kacprzyk, led to lethal complications for patients.

The Dawid Kacprzyk Controversy

Dawid Kacprzyk, a Civic Coalition councilor and resident physician without a medical specialization, served as the coordinator of the hospital’s emergency department. Reports indicate he established an unofficial triage path specifically for Civic Coalition politicians and their families.

Following media exposure of the preferential access system, Mayor Trzaskowski ordered the dismissal of the hospital’s management board. Kacprzyk has since resigned from his political mandate and membership in the Civic Coalition, and the hospital has terminated his employment contract.
