Tusk Orders Full Investigation into Southern Hospital Allegations

Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced on Wednesday, June 24, that the government will conduct a thorough investigation into irregularities at the Southern Hospital, including potential criminal proceedings regarding medical malpractice.

Government Investigation into Hospital Operations

Prime Minister Donald Tusk declared that the government will investigate every aspect of the situation at the Southern Hospital, regardless of the political cost. He emphasized that the prosecutor’s office is already involved in the matter.

While noting that the scale of the alleged issues does not currently appear to differ from other hospitals, Tusk insisted that investigators must examine every detail to uncover what occurred within the facility.

Serious Allegations of Medical Malpractice

The investigation follows statements by Dr. Emil Jędrzejewski, a former employee of the Southern Hospital, who appeared on “Kanał Zero.” Jędrzejewski alleged that medical procedures in the emergency department were performed incorrectly, resulting in avoidable complications and patient deaths.

Dr. Jędrzejewski formally presented his testimony to the Warsaw prosecutor’s office on Wednesday. He alleged that irregularities were systemic, claiming that unqualified individuals were permitted to perform procedures under the oversight of Dawid Kacprzyk.

Controversy Surrounding Dawid Kacprzyk

Dawid Kacprzyk, a former Civic Coalition (KO) councillor and coordinator of the hospital’s emergency department, has been accused of establishing an unofficial intake path for politicians and their families.

Following media reports regarding these practices, Kacprzyk resigned from his party membership and his mandate as a councillor. The hospital has subsequently terminated its contract with him.
