Following reports that Prime Minister Donald Tusk rejected EU-level decisions made without Poland’s participation, a public poll reveals that over 64 percent of readers believe Poland retains significant influence on Ukraine-related negotiations.

Public perception of Polish influence

Readers were asked if they believe Poland exerts influence on negotiations regarding the war in Ukraine. The results, finalized on June 23, 2026, show that out of 11,796 total votes, 7,597 participants (64.40 percent) answered in the affirmative.

Conversely, 3,837 voters (32.53 percent) stated that Poland has no influence, while 362 respondents (3.07 percent) indicated they had no opinion on the matter.

EU decision-making and diplomatic friction

The question of national participation in European security talks has become a central theme within the European Union. Discussions focus on continued support for Ukraine and the framework for potential peace negotiations, including who should represent the bloc.

Recent summits have highlighted discrepancies regarding the EU’s representation when dealing with Russia. Debates specifically address the role of the E3 format—France, Germany, and the United Kingdom—and communication channels maintained by European Council President Antonio Costa.
