Five-Year-Old Found with Broken Leg as Caregivers Remain Drunk

A five-year-old boy suffering from a broken leg was found crying for help in a Częstochowa apartment building hallway early Sunday morning while his intoxicated mother and her partner slept.

The Incident on Kilińskiego Street

On Sunday, June 28, residents of a building on Kilińskiego Street in Częstochowa were alerted by the cries of a five-year-old boy lying in the hallway and pleading for help. Concerned neighbors immediately notified the police.

Upon arrival, officers and medical responders discovered the child had a broken leg and transported him to the hospital for treatment.

Intoxicated Caregivers Discovered

Police entered the apartment to find the child’s mother, her partner, and two other children, aged 4 and 11, inside. While the boy was seeking assistance, the adults were asleep.

The 34-year-old mother was found to have nearly 2.0 promille of alcohol in her system, while her partner recorded 1.0 promille, according to the Częstochowa Municipal Police.

Charges and Legal Consequences

The couple was arrested, and the three children were placed in a care facility. After sobering up, the suspects were interrogated by authorities.

The prosecutor charged the 34-year-old mother with endangering her child’s life or causing serious health damage, a crime carrying a potential sentence of up to five years in prison. The family and juvenile court has been notified of the case.
