Sudden 30-Centimeter Road Buckle Emerges on Warsaw’s Aleja 4 Czerwca 1989r.

On Thursday afternoon, July 2, a 30-centimeter-high ridge suddenly appeared on Aleja 4 Czerwca 1989r. in Warsaw, creating a significant road hazard for drivers heading toward Aleje Jerozolimskie.

Unplanned Roadway Deformation

A dangerous road incident occurred in Warsaw on Thursday, July 2, around 5:00 PM. A distinct buckle measuring approximately 30 centimeters in height appeared on the roadway of Aleja 4 Czerwca 1989r., between Ryżowa Street and Aleje Jerozolimskie.

The road was not previously marked as hazardous, nor were there any ongoing roadworks or traffic management plans in effect at that location, suggesting the deformation occurred abruptly.

Construction Work Suspected as Cause

Approximately 10 meters from the site of the buckle, crews were conducting parallel underground drilling operations. Workers on-site indicated that their drilling activities were likely the cause of the road damage.

Preliminary assessments suggest that high pressure generated underground during the drilling forced the ground upward, causing the pavement to buckle at its weakest point—the surface of the road.

Traffic Safety and Future Repairs

Upon noticing the hazard, nearby workers began slowing down approaching vehicles to prevent accidents and damage. Given the height of the obstacle, crossing the section at normal speeds posed a serious safety risk.

It remains unclear what repairs will be required or how long traffic flow will be affected. The route serves as a critical exit road from the Ursus district toward Aleje Jerozolimskie.
