High-Speed Chase in Józefów Ends in Felony Charges and Police Supervision

Otwock traffic police arrested a 43-year-old man who attempted to evade a routine stop on a stolen motorcycle, later testing positive for amphetamines and facing multiple criminal charges.

The Failed Escape

Otwock traffic officers patrolling Józefów spotted a motorcyclist operating a vehicle without a license plate. When police signaled the driver to stop, he ignored the command, accelerated, and attempted to flee through the city streets.

The pursuit ended when the motorcyclist lost control and crashed. He abandoned the bike and attempted to flee on foot toward the Świder River, where officers quickly apprehended and subdued him.

A Record of Crimes

Investigations revealed the 43-year-old was wanted by authorities for legal proceedings and lacked a valid driver’s license. Furthermore, the motorcycle he was operating had been reported as stolen.

Drug testing confirmed the suspect was under the influence of amphetamines. He was subsequently placed in a holding cell and charged with failing to stop for police, driving under the influence of narcotics—with prior convictions for intoxicated driving—and receiving stolen property.

Legal Consequences

The District Prosecutor’s Office in Otwock has placed the suspect under police supervision. The defendant faces up to five years in prison, with his final sentencing to be determined by the court.
