Intoxicated Soldier Damages Tymbark Police Station and Vehicles

A 20-year-old soldier, found to have a blood alcohol level of 1.5 per mille, was arrested after vandalizing a police station and damaging four vehicles in Tymbark over the weekend.

Vandalism at Tymbark Police Station

The incident occurred between Friday night and Saturday morning in Tymbark, located in the Limanowa County. According to Sub-inspector Katarzyna Cisło, spokesperson for the Provincial Police Commander in Krakow, the soldier smashed the glass in the station’s front entrance.

The perpetrator also damaged two police cruisers and two private cars parked nearby. Police reports indicate that the man also threw trash cans during his rampage.

Attempted Entry and Arrest

The Polish Press Agency (PAP) reports that the soldier may have been attempting to gain entry to the station, which was closed at the time. Following his arrest, breathalyzer tests confirmed the 20-year-old was intoxicated with 1.5 per mille of alcohol in his system.

The suspect remains in custody and will be handed over to the Military Gendarmerie for further processing.

Military Gendarmerie Investigation

The Military Gendarmerie confirmed the incident via social media, stating that the Krakow branch is investigating the damage caused on July 4, 2026, around 4:00 AM. Lieutenant Colonel Dariusz Rozkosz, spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Military Gendarmerie, noted that the soldier is from a unit within the Lesser Poland Voivodeship.

The official statement confirms the soldier was intoxicated at the time of arrest, and investigation procedures into the circumstances of the event are currently underway.
