Another Law and Justice MP Leaves Party After Decades of Collaboration with Kaczyński

Founding member Szymon Giżyński exits PiS after decades of alignment to join Mateusz Morawiecki’s new parliamentary group, intensifying ongoing political realignments within the conservative opposition.

Decades of Collaboration Ends

PiS has lost another member in a painful departure, as the parliamentarian had collaborated with Jarosław Kaczyński since the 1990s. Giżyński recalled in an interview with PAP that they co-founded the Center Agreement in 1990, and he joined PiS immediately upon its creation in 2001.

Joining Rozwój Plus

Szymon Giżyński explained that the new political entity opens an opportunity to return to the most valuable and attractive elements of PiS and Center Agreement history. He described Rozwój Plus as gathering wise, capable individuals with good intentions and Polish patriots.

The MP stated he will continue to seek the core path that strongly bound him to Jarosław Kaczyński throughout his life. Suspended PiS MP Szymon Giżyński from Częstochowa officially joined Mateusz Morawiecki’s Rozwój Plus.

Suspension and Disciplinary Proceedings

The Częstochowa-based MP was suspended from PiS in mid-July pending disciplinary proceedings following his critical remarks regarding party leadership involvement in the Częstochowa presidential and city council recall referendum. Giżyński had ironized about party support for the initiative.

Formalizing the Transition

Giżyński informed PAP that his transition to the new grouping was formalized as the Rozwój Plus parliamentary club registered on Thursday, July 30. This followed an ultimatum deadline set by PiS leadership requiring members to declare no membership in political associations.

Context of Mass Departures

Jarosław Kaczyński stated last Friday that several MPs had resigned from PiS, though Morawiecki-linked figures denied explicit party resignations. The PiS Political Committee referred cases to disciplinary spokesperson Karol Karski, while 40 MPs associated with Morawiecki’s initiative transitioned to Rozwój Plus.
