Authorities in the Glogow district have issued a public safety warning following reports of a potential feline predator roaming the Pęcław municipality, prompting an investigation by local services.

Investigation into Potential Predator
The Glogow district administration announced on Wednesday, July 15, via Facebook that reports suggest a predator from the feline family may be present in the Pęcław municipality. Efforts are currently underway to verify these sightings and locate the animal.
Safety Guidelines for Residents
Until the matter is clarified, officials advise exercising extreme caution in forests, fields, and near village outskirts. Residents are urged not to approach, track, or frighten the animal, and are advised to keep children supervised and secure livestock and domestic animals, particularly at night.

Reliable sightings can be reported to the emergency number 112 or directly to local services, including the District Crisis Management Center, the Glogow Forestry Inspectorate, the District Veterinary Inspectorate, and the District Police Headquarters. Authorities have asked the public to refrain from spreading unverified information or photos on social media, as this may hinder official operations.
Forestry Service Monitoring
The Glogow Forestry Inspectorate is working closely with the District Crisis Management Center and the Veterinary Inspectorate. Field forestry teams are actively monitoring the surrounding woods to confirm or rule out the animal’s presence.
History of Recent Puma Alerts
This follows similar warnings in recent months. In July, a puma was successfully captured in the Polanów municipality after being spotted by a hunter; the animal is now under veterinary care and expected to be moved to a zoo. Previously, in late January, an alert was issued in the Będzino municipality after a camera trap captured a creature resembling a puma or cheetah near Strachomin, though that animal was never located.
