Bemowo Police Apprehend Fraudster Using Impersonation Scam

Intelligence officers in Warsaw’s Bemowo district arrested a 36-year-old man caught withdrawing cash from an ATM using illicitly obtained bank codes, resulting in the seizure of over 16,000 PLN.

The Arrest

Officers from the Bemowo intelligence unit acted on information regarding a man withdrawing cash at an ATM. Suspecting the use of unauthorized bank codes to defraud victims, police moved to intervene.

Upon spotting the officers, the suspect attempted to flee on foot. Following a brief pursuit, he was detained, and officials seized over 16,000 PLN, the origin of which the suspect refused to explain.

Criminal Charges

The 36-year-old was placed in a police cell after investigators gathered sufficient evidence. He has been formally charged with fraud, an offense that carries a penalty of up to eight years in prison.

The prosecutor has placed the suspect under police supervision. The investigation is currently ongoing under the oversight of the District Prosecutor’s Office for Warsaw-Wola.
