Breakthrough in Biała Podlaska Murder Case: Suspect Arrested Near Warsaw

Polish authorities have apprehended a 36-year-old Georgian national suspected of murdering a 44-year-old Russian artist in Biała Podlaska, as investigations into the potential political motives behind the assassination continue.

Suspect Apprehended by Security Services

Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced on social media that a suspect in the murder of a Russian national has been detained. The operation involved officers from the Lublin Provincial Police and the Internal Security Agency (ABW).

The suspect was apprehended on Thursday morning near Warsaw. According to police, the man was traveling using a passport issued to a 36-year-old Georgian citizen.

Investigation and Political Context

The victim of the shooting, which occurred on June 15 in broad daylight, was a 44-year-old artist known by the pseudonym Siemion Skrepetski. He was widely recognized for his vocal criticism of Vladimir Putin and the Russian government.

Authorities, including the Internal Security Agency, are currently working to identify the individual or entity that ordered the contract killing. Earlier in the investigation, two Belarusian nationals were detained, but they were released after their involvement could not be confirmed.
