CBA Raids Home of Lublin Councillor as Education Superintendent Faces Charges

Central Anti-Corruption Bureau agents searched the home and office of Koalicja Obywatelska councillor Anna Glijer on Wednesday, while Lublin’s Education Superintendent remains under investigation for corruption in public procurement.

CBA Search at Councillor’s Residence

Agents from the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBA) arrived at the home of Lublin councillor Anna Glijer at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday. During the search, officers seized mobile phones belonging to the councillor and her partner, later inspecting her work laptop and flash drives at the Lublin Provincial Office before returning the equipment.

Glijer, an expert at the provincial office and close associate of Governor Krzysztof Komorski, has not been charged. In 2024, she organized a private event at a venue owned by a businessman previously detained by the CBA. She stated that the current proceedings concern a case rather than an individual and described her actions as standard cooperation with investigative authorities.

Corruption Probe Into Public Procurement

On June 17, the CBA announced the detention of Lublin Education Superintendent Tomasz Szablowski. The arrest was ordered by the National Prosecutor’s Office in Krakow in connection with suspicions of abuse of power, illicit influence on public procurement, and acting for financial gain.

Investigators searched the Lublin Education Board and the provincial office, securing documents and electronic devices. The investigation alleges that officials colluded to predetermine the winners of public tenders and tailored offer inquiries to specific entities. Specifically, the superintendent is suspected of reaching an illegal agreement with an event management company regarding the 100th anniversary celebration of the Lublin Education Board.

Charges and Ongoing Development

After being detained, Szablowski was brought to the National Prosecutor’s Office in Krakow, where he faces potential prison sentences of up to 20 years. He has been placed under police supervision, ordered to pay a bond, and suspended from his professional duties. He denies the allegations.

This investigation follows a series of January detentions involving seven individuals, including the Deputy Mayor of Lublin and other municipal officials. Investigators emphasize that the case is active and further procedural actions are expected.
