Child in Extremely Critical Condition After Underwater Incident at Łódź Aquapark

A 7.5-year-old boy is in extremely critical condition in a Łódź hospital intensive care unit after being pulled from a pool underwater during a holiday swimming course on Monday.

Incident at Aquapark Fala

The incident occurred on Monday, July 27, at around 9:00 AM at the Aquapark Fala in Łódź. Junior Inspector Kamila Sowińska, press officer for the Łódź police commander, informed Gazeta.pl that the police received a report stating the boy had been underwater for several minutes.

TVN24 reported that a man noticed the 7.5-year-old boy lying in one of the pools.

Rescue Efforts and Hospitalization

The boy was pulled from the water and resuscitation was performed. He was transported to one of the Łódź hospitals in serious condition, while the police conduct proceedings to determine the circumstances under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office.

An emergency medical team arrived at the scene and performed resuscitation on the child for about 30 minutes. According to the station, the boy was transported to the Polish Mother’s Memorial Hospital Research Institute in Łódź in an extremely critical condition. Facility spokesperson Adam Czerwiński reported that the young child is in the intensive care unit.

Investigation and Facility Response

The case is being handled by the Łódź-Polesie District Prosecutor’s Office. TVN24 reported that monitoring footage and documentation related to the employment of lifeguards were secured in connection with the case. Paweł Jasiak from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Łódź informed that the investigation is being conducted under the angle of exposing someone to immediate danger of loss of life or heavy health detriment.

In a statement quoted by the station, the aquapark confirmed that the incident occurred during a holiday swimming course organized by an external entity. It was emphasized that the company, Water Rescue Swimming and Water Sports School, holds appropriate certificates and has been operating for years. The facility secured the monitoring footage and remains at the disposal of the appropriate services.
