CBA Investigates Flood Aid Distribution

The Central Anticorruption Bureau is examining a case reported by Wirtualna Polska regarding 4.5 million PLN in flood relief from the Karkonosze Regional Development Agency. Four independent sources dispute that the three recipient entities in the same local area suffered any flood damage, with funds going to parties connected to the agency’s deputy head and Civic Coalition activist.

Internal Party Suspension and Ministry Audit

Michał Jaros, Deputy Minister of Development and Technology and head of the Civic Coalition’s Lower Silesian structures, announced that the deputy head was suspended from the party and faces an impending internal disciplinary hearing. Jaros added that his ministry initiated an independent audit, reviewing agency documents and requesting certificate information from local municipalities regarding whether businesses were genuinely affected by floods.

Controversial Grants to Relatives and Neighbors

Wirtualna Polska reported that three local entities in Dziwiszów received support, including the maximum 200,000 PLN loan for the deputy director’s husband’s company, despite inspection findings showing only minor cosmetic damage and no municipal proof of flood causation. Meanwhile, a neighbor’s company received 3.2 million PLN for an unopened children’s play area, and a local television owner’s company received 1.12 million PLN without required impartiality declarations.

Official Scrutiny and Law Enforcement Warning

Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesperson for the minister coordinator of special services, stated on X that CBA officers are analyzing all documents and circumstances, with plans to notify prosecutors if crimes are suspected. Ministry officials requested full lists of loan beneficiaries from municipalities, while Jaros warned that primitive and greedy behaviors will be stigmatized and reported to law enforcement once checks conclude.
