Dangerous Collision in Mokotów: Two Hospitalized After Red-Light Violation

Two people were hospitalized for examinations following a morning collision between a Skoda and a Toyota at a Warsaw intersection, which temporarily disrupted public transport and traffic.

Morning Crash on Rolna and Wałbrzyska

On Thursday morning at the intersection of Rolna and Wałbrzyska streets in Warsaw’s Mokotów district, two passenger cars—a Skoda and a Toyota—collied. Two people were transported to the hospital for examinations. The incident caused traffic disruptions and temporary route changes for five bus lines.

The incident occurred on August 6 after 8 a.m. Three fire brigades, the police, and emergency medical teams were dispatched to the scene. The occupants of the cars managed to exit the vehicles on their own, and two of them were subsequently taken to the hospital for check-ups.

Vehicle Damage and Preliminary Findings

The collision involved a silver Skoda and a white Toyota. The Skoda sustained severe front-end damage, while the Toyota, which stopped about 100 meters from the crash site, suffered damage to its left side. Initial findings indicate that the driver of the Skoda entered the intersection on a red light and struck the Toyota.

Public Transport Disruptions and Road Clearance

Due to the ongoing emergency operations, there were disruptions to road traffic and public transport. Buses on lines 189 toward Osiedle Górczewska, 193 toward Bokserska, 317 toward P+R Aleja Krakowska, 401 toward Ursus-Niedźwiadek, and 402 toward the Wynalazek terminus were diverted onto detours.

The wrecked cars were removed from the intersection and placed near a nearby bus stop. Maintenance services cleaned the roadway, and before 10 a.m., the intersection of Rolna and Wałbrzyska streets was fully open to traffic again.

Police officers conducted investigations at the scene to determine the exact sequence of events and the causes of the collision.
