UODO Intervention
The Personal Data Protection Office will conduct an inspection at the Southern Hospital in Warsaw. UODO President Mirosław Wróblewski confirmed the audit will focus on potential GDPR violations reported in the media, referencing his past enforcement actions regarding illegal surveillance.
Allegations and Legal Scrutiny
Dr. Emil Jędrzejewski, a former employee, alleged on the “Kanał Zero” platform that the hospital’s Emergency Department suffered from procedural failures and medical errors resulting in patient deaths. These claims follow media reports alleging that Dawid Kacprzyk, the department coordinator and a local politician, received excessive compensation while prioritizing certain political figures for medical care.
Investigations and Institutional Response
Authorities have initiated two investigations concerning fraud and the abuse of public office. The hospital has seen a leadership overhaul, with the mayor of Warsaw dismissing the management and supervisory boards. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has ordered inspections at the Southern Hospital and the Bródnowski Hospital regarding their emergency operations.
Employment Practices Under Review
Reports indicate that Dawid Kacprzyk, who has since resigned from his political posts and returned a portion of his earnings, logged extreme working hours at the Bródnowski Hospital. Officials are currently auditing these records to determine if the hospital met statutory requirements for emergency medical service functionality.
