During Friday’s Sejm session, Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz presented a detailed timeline of events from the night between Wednesday and Thursday, when a suspected Russian Kh-101 missile entered Polish airspace. The Deputy Prime Minister reconstructed the chronology leading up to the missile incident in the Lublin region, noting that late in the evening, Operational Commander of the Armed Forces Maj. Gen. Ireneusz Nowak initiated actions to place all national air defense systems on alert.

Response to Opposition and Continued Support for Ukraine

Kosiniak-Kamysz addressed criticism from PiS politicians who accused the government of failing to provide immediate and reliable information to residents of the Lublin region, citing a lack of radio, television, and Government Security Centre (RCB) SMS alerts despite active sirens. Directing his remarks to the right side of the chamber, he emphasized that the operational commander prioritizes the security of the Polish state over SMS messages, tweets, and other communications, adding that ensuring operational actions is paramount. He further stated that the opposition does not see the Russian Federation as an enemy, but rather views Ukraine as one, and stressed that the government will continue its support for Kyiv despite the opposition’s protests, while ensuring clarity on who the aggressor and victim are in the brutal attack on freedom, international law, and the security of Poland and all of NATO.
