Details of Nawrocki’s First Presidential Anniversary Revealed Amid Tusk’s Criticism

Open-air celebrations marking Karol Nawrocki’s first presidential anniversary will feature a debate, a secret concert, and a speech, drawing sharp political critique from Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

Anniversary Celebrations at the Presidential Palace

On Thursday, August 6, at 5:30 PM, open-air celebrations marking the first anniversary of Karol Nawrocki’s swearing-in as president will take place in front of the Presidential Palace on Krakowskie Przedmieście in Warsaw. A red-and-white stage is currently being built in the courtyard, featuring audience seating on both sides, with the event also visible from Krakowskie Przedmieście. Chief of the Presidential Cabinet Paweł Szefernaker noted that such an event has never been held in the courtyard before.

Debate Participants and Artistic Mystery

Interia established that the opening debate summarizing Nawrocki’s first year in office will include historian Prof. Andrzej Nowak, publicist Rafał Ziemkiewicz, and Kanał Zero founder Krzysztof Stanowski. Organizers explained that the participants were chosen because they had contact with Nawrocki at various stages of the election campaign and subsequent presidency. The courtyard events will also feature an artistic performance with secret details and a final speech by Nawrocki.

Donald Tusk’s Assessment of the Presidency

Prime Minister Donald Tusk assessed Nawrocki’s presidency as being associated with attempts to block the European SAFE program, a controversial pardon of Legia Warsaw fan leader Piotr “Staruch” Staruchowicz, and the veto of the next-of-kin status bill. Tusk emphasized that he remains in contact with the president exclusively through his own initiative, citing a recent conversation regarding a Russian Kh-101 missile falling in the Lublin Voivodeship and the need to accelerate anti-drone and anti-missile defense systems.

Continuation of Judicial Policies and Reforms

Tusk stated that Nawrocki is even more determined and adamant than former President Andrzej Duda in hardening a flawed model that violates fundamental rule-of-law principles. The head of government added that he was disappointed by Nawrocki’s veto of the next-of-kin bill, which he described as a very moderate solution.
