Drunk 47-Year-Old Detained With Replica Firearm Near Presidential Palace

A 47-year-old man under the influence of alcohol was detained by police on Wednesday morning near the Presidential Palace in Warsaw after officers discovered he was carrying a replica firearm.

The Incident at the Palace

The man arrived at the Presidential Palace on Wednesday, July 15, around 8:00 AM. While reports from RMF FM suggested he approached State Protection Service (SOP) officers demanding a meeting with Karol Nawrocki, this account was not confirmed by SOP spokesperson Colonel Bogusław Piórkowski.

Colonel Piórkowski stated that SOP officers did not hear such a request. They simply identified the man, noticed an object resembling a weapon, and immediately notified the police.

Police Intervention and Findings

Officers from the Śródmieście district arrived at the scene following the report from the SOP. Junior Aspirant Jakub Pacyniak of the Warsaw I District Police confirmed that the 47-year-old was identified and found to have nearly 1.5 per mille of alcohol in his system.

Police secured the object, which preliminary findings identify as a BB-gun replica. Authorities confirmed that the man did not make any threats and no one was harmed during the incident. The 47-year-old was subsequently transported to a sobering center.
