Drunk Driver Arrested After Sleeping in Middle of Road

A 32-year-old man was apprehended in Zalesie Górne after police found him asleep behind the wheel of his BMW, blocking traffic with a blood alcohol level of nearly 0.2 percent.

Drunk and Disoriented Behind the Wheel

Piaseczno traffic police discovered a 32-year-old man asleep in his BMW, which was left idling in the middle of Wiekowa Sosna Street. A breathalyzer test confirmed he was driving with nearly 2 promiles of alcohol in his system.

The driver had no memory of how he arrived at the location and claimed he had not been driving, despite being found in the driver’s seat. Further investigation revealed that his driving privileges had been revoked in 2025 due to an accumulation of penalty points.

Aggressive Behavior and Criminal Charges

Upon realizing he was being detained, the man became aggressive, insulting the officers and issuing threats against their lives and health. He was taken into custody, and his vehicle was impounded at a police storage facility.

The following day, he faced formal charges for driving while intoxicated, operating a vehicle despite having his license revoked, and threatening and insulting public officials. He now faces a potential sentence of up to three years in prison.

Authorities emphasized that intoxicated drivers remain a significant threat to all road users. They praised the witness who alerted law enforcement, noting that such citizen vigilance is essential for removing dangerous individuals from the road and preventing potential tragedies.
