Incident at the Farbiarska Street Community Center
On Wednesday, August 12, shortly before 2:00 PM at a children’s community center on Farbiarska Street, five children aged 5–6 exhibited symptoms of poisoning after consuming berries found on a shrub growing in the facility’s garden.
The facility was running semi-open summer holiday activities attended by a group of sixteen children at the time.
Consumption of Shrub Berries and Onset of Symptoms
At one point, five children aged 5–6 found a shrub bearing fruit resembling “berries” in the garden area, which they picked and ate. Shortly afterward, they developed digestive system ailments, primarily diarrhea.
The symptoms were markedly stronger in three of the children, while the other two experienced a milder course.
Emergency Response and Medical Intervention
Five emergency medical teams and the police were dispatched to the scene. Following examinations, paramedics decided to transport the three children with more severe symptoms to the hospital.
Information from the scene indicates that their lives are not in danger. The two children with milder ailments were released into the care of their parents.
Supervision and Police Investigation
Two supervisors were present at the scene managing the group. Both were tested for sobriety and were confirmed to be sober.
Police conducted further procedures regarding the incident and worked to determine its exact circumstances.
