Five-Year-Old Survives 11th-Story Fall After Being Woken From Coma

A five-year-old girl who fell from an eleventh-story window in Włocławek on June 5 while under the care of an intoxicated mother has been successfully awakened from a medically induced coma.

The Incident and Rescue

On June 5, a young girl fell from an eleventh-story window in Włocławek. She survived the fall by landing on bushes beneath the building. Following the accident, the child was transported by an air ambulance to a hospital in Bydgoszcz.

Upon arrival, the girl was diagnosed with multisystem injuries and admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit in critical condition. Hospital officials initially provided very cautious prognoses regarding her recovery.

Current Medical Status

After a month-long battle for her life, doctors have successfully brought the five-year-old out of a pharmacological coma. The child has since been transferred to the pediatric surgery ward.

Hospital representatives report that while her condition remains serious, it is now considered stable. The child is currently facing a period of rehabilitation.

Legal Consequences for the Mother

The child’s 21-year-old mother, Wiktoria D., was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana at the time of the incident. It was reported that the woman was asleep when the fall occurred.

Following her arrest, the mother was charged with unintentionally causing severe bodily harm to her daughter and the possession of illegal narcotics. While she admitted to being intoxicated—with breathalyzer tests showing approximately 1.0 per mille of alcohol—the court rejected the District Prosecutor’s request for pre-trial detention. According to reports, the mother had no prior criminal record.
