Fresh Turmoil in Polska 2050: Hołownia Exits Party Leadership to Found New Group

Szymon Hołownia has stepped down from the national board of Polska 2050 after four months, while simultaneously launching a new initiative called “Umiarkowani” to rally like-minded supporters.

Hołownia’s Departure from Party Leadership

As reported by TVN24+ journalist Patryk Michalski, Szymon Hołownia’s name has been quietly removed from the national board section of the party’s website. This move marks another turbulent chapter in the internal power dynamics of his movement.

Hołownia assumed the role of deputy chairman in February, just one month after Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz was elected party leader. His tenure in this position lasted only four months. A party official, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated that the resignation took place with the full knowledge and consent of the party leadership.

Formation of the “Umiarkowani” Group

Shortly before his official departure from the board, Hołownia created a Facebook group titled “Umiarkowani” (The Moderates). In his inaugural post, he explained that he started the group because he remains committed to improving the country for his daughters, Marysia and Ela.

He noted that he is seeking individuals who think alike or share 95 percent of his views. To date, the group has attracted over 130 members.

A Continuing Pattern of Internal Splits

Hołownia’s exit from the board represents the latest phase of the internal crisis within Polska 2050. Several months ago, a group of politicians led by Paulina Hennig-Kloska left the party to form the “Centrum” club.

Hennig-Kloska stated in February that they no longer saw space to realize their goals within the current group and parliamentary caucus, citing a lack of dialogue and partnership. Despite these shifts, Hołownia has repeatedly emphasized that he is not a passerby in politics and intends to continue working toward a better Poland for his daughters.
