Gas Leak at Targówek Fuel Station

A propane-butane leak at a fuel station on Głębocka Street in Targówek prompted a major emergency response on Friday, July 17, requiring specialized chemical rescue units to secure the site.

Emergency Response Operations

Emergency services received a report of a gas leak at the fuel station located at 15 Głębocka Street at 5:40 PM. Upon arrival, firefighters identified the source of the leak under the technical cover of an underground storage tank.

The operation involved six units of the State Fire Service, including the City Operational Group and a specialist chemical-ecological rescue team from JRG 6.

Site Security and Containment

Firefighters secured the perimeter and cut off the electricity supply to the station. Using specialized measurement equipment, they established a 20-meter danger zone around the tank. No threat was detected to nearby buildings, and there was no need to evacuate the neighboring Targówek shopping center.

As the operation continued, crews shut off the main tank valves and performed a controlled removal of gas from the installation segment running from the tank to the fuel dispensers.

No injuries were reported during the incident. The emergency operation was officially concluded at 9:09 PM.
