The 4.24 percent increase applies to over 100,000 Poles currently collecting German pension benefits. Following a decision by the German Bundesrat, the postal operator is now distributing official notifications detailing the updated payment amounts.

Significant disparity in payout levels

Official data highlights a sharp contrast in average payouts. While retirees residing permanently in Germany often receive four-digit monthly sums, those living in Poland typically receive only a fraction of that amount.

The mechanism behind the benefit gap

The difference stems from the structure of German insurance law, which lacks a statutory minimum pension. Benefit amounts are strictly dependent on total years worked and the specific contributions made from actual earnings. Many seniors currently living in Poland had only episodic careers in the German labor market, resulting in a proportionately lower capital base for their pensions.
