Videos circulating on social media show a physical struggle between the activists and police officers. Several members of the group, including leader Robert Bąkiewicz, were subdued, handcuffed, and temporarily detained by authorities.

Official Response from the Polish Foreign Ministry

Maciej Wewiór, spokesperson for the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed on the X platform that the Polish consul in Berlin is actively working on the case. The diplomat is currently establishing the circumstances surrounding the incident and the specific reasons for the detention.

Bąkiewicz Alleges Police Brutality

Prior to the detention, Bąkiewicz claimed the group did not intend to hold a formal protest, but rather wished to pray and place a cross and informational plaques at the memorial site. He had previously requested assistance from the Polish Embassy, fearing the use of force.

Following the encounter, Bąkiewicz alleged that officers used excessive force, stating he was choked and struck with fists and knees. He characterized the actions of the police as brutal and biased, noting that the group was prevented from honoring the anniversary of the victims.
