German-Stolen Toyota Intercepted on A2 Highway by Polish Police; Driver Faces Four Charges

Polish law enforcement intercepted a Toyota stolen in Germany on the A2 highway near Baranów, arresting a 20-year-old drunk driver with a judicial driving ban and fake license plates.

Intervention on the A2 Highway

The “Kobra” operational group, in cooperation with the Central Bureau of Investigation of Police (CBŚP), local officers from Grodzisk Mazowiecki, and the capital’s traffic police, carried out an operation on the A2 highway near Baranów. They stopped a driver operating a Toyota that had been stolen in Germany.

At the time of the intervention, the 20-year-old driver had 1.3 per mil of alcohol in his system, an active judicial ban on driving any mechanical vehicles, and was using license plates belonging to another car. By decision of the prosecutor’s office, he was placed under police supervision.

Operational Background and Tracking

Operational officers from the “Kobra” group obtained information regarding the theft of a Toyota in Germany and its subsequent movement toward Warsaw. Together with officers from the Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Warsaw CBŚP, they prepared an operation to stop the driver and secure the vehicle.

After locating the Toyota heading toward the capital based on operational findings, police maintained observation until executing the dynamic intervention near Baranów with the support of Grodzisk Mazowiecki and capital traffic units.

Arrest, Search, and Seizure

During the dynamic action, officers detained the 20-year-old driver, noting scattered alcohol bottles inside the vehicle and a distinct smell of alcohol. Testing confirmed a blood alcohol level exceeding 1.3 per mil, alongside his active judicial driving bans.

Inside the car, police found partially dismantled dashboard elements, a car remote control, a camera, navigation equipment, personal items, and mismatched license plates. The Toyota was secured, and the suspect was placed in a police cell.

Charges and Legal Proceedings

Based on the gathered evidence, the suspect faced four charges: vehicle burglary involving mismatched license plates, driving despite judicial bans, and driving under the influence of alcohol.

The suspect was placed under police supervision by decision of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Żyrardów, which continues to supervise the ongoing proceedings handled alongside the KRP VII precinct covering Praga Południe, Rembertów, Wawer, and Wesoła.
