Health Warning: Lidl Recalls Dubai Style Chocolate Ice Cream Over Undeclared Allergen

Poland’s Chief Sanitary Inspectorate has ordered the recall of four batches of Gelatelli protein ice cream sold at Lidl stores due to the presence of undeclared cashew nuts.

Recall Details and Health Risks

The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate (GIS) announced the withdrawal of four batches of Dubai Style Chocolate protein ice cream. The product contains cashew nuts, which are not listed on the ingredient label, posing a serious health risk to consumers with specific nut allergies.

While the product remains safe for individuals without a cashew allergy, the GIS warns that those with such allergies must not consume the ice cream under any circumstances to avoid potential allergic reactions.

Affected Product Batches

The recall affects 500 ml containers of Gelatelli Dubai Style Chocolate protein ice cream. The specific batches identified include products with minimum durability dates and corresponding batch numbers: 24.11.2027 (D2W48J25R2), 25.11.2027 (D3W48J25R2), 26.11.2027 (D4W48J25R2), and 27.11.2027 (D5W48J25R2).

Distribution and Ongoing Investigation

The product is distributed in the European Union by Motido GmbH, based in Dortmund, Germany. In Poland, the distributor is Lidl Sp. z o.o. Sp. k. Following the discovery of the undeclared allergen, the distributor initiated a voluntary recall, with notices posted on the Lidl website and in stores across Poland.

Official food safety authorities are currently collaborating with the distributor to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
