Hit-and-Run on Wisłostrada: Search for Driver After Audi Crashes into Barriers

A silver Audi was forced off the road and into a street lamp early Thursday morning on Wybrzeże Gdyńskie after being struck by an unidentified vehicle, which subsequently fled the scene.

The Incident on Wybrzeże Gdyńskie

At approximately 12:30 AM, a serious road incident occurred near the Gwiaździsta Street intersection in Warsaw’s Bielany district. Two passenger cars were involved in a collision that resulted in significant damage to one vehicle and local road infrastructure.

Preliminary findings suggest an unidentified vehicle—suspected to be a Mercedes—struck the left side of an Audi. The force of the impact caused the Audi driver to lose control, leading the car to strike energy-absorbing barriers and a street lamp.

Investigation and Witness Appeal

Although the damage was severe, no injuries were reported, and no hospitalizations were required. The perpetrator did not stop to render aid and reportedly fled in the direction of Łomianki, potentially bearing visible signs of the collision.

The victim, driving a silver Audi A5, claims the suspect was tailgating him before attempting an aggressive overtake. The suspect allegedly lost control on uneven pavement, hit the Audi, and pushed it into the barriers. Local police and fire services secured the site and briefly blocked traffic to manage the damaged infrastructure.

Authorities and the victim are now seeking witnesses to the crash. Individuals who have dashcam footage from the area or who may have spotted a damaged vehicle matching the description are urged to contact the police.
