According to Alexander Dobrindt, speaking in an interview with German public television ARD, the professional construction of the drone may indicate the involvement of “foreign powers.”

“We are dealing here with a ‘hybrid assassination scenario’ for the first time at an airport with a drone carrying explosives,” the minister stated, adding that politicians must respond to the threat.

Asked about a political motive, Dobrindt noted he could not confirm any speculations while the investigation is ongoing, emphasizing that the drone was the work of high-level professionals rather than amateurs.

Dobrindt acknowledged that foreign powers could have been behind the incident, noting that the investigation is being pursued in all directions and that the professional handling rules out purely amateur knowledge.

Airport Narrowly Avoids Catastrophe

Findings from NDR, WDR, and Sueddeutsche Zeitung reveal that the airport was a step away from catastrophe after a detonator on the attached package broke off, preventing an explosion.

The drone was armed with a military-grade explosive designed to bypass airport security, coming into close proximity with a Ukrainian An-124 Ruslan transport aircraft.
