Is there a trading Sunday right in the middle of the vacation season? Many Poles ask themselves this question, wondering if they can plan larger shopping trips on Sunday, August 2. We check which stores will be open on Sunday, August 2, 2026.

Many Poles leave larger shopping trips for their day off work. For most of society, this is Saturday or Sunday, if the stores happen to be open. Is Sunday, August 2, 2026 therefore a trading Sunday? We check which stores will be open.

When is the Next Trading Sunday?

For lovers of quiet weekend shopping, this will not be the best news. This week, that option is limited to Saturday only. The upcoming Sunday, August 2, 2026, has not entered the calendar of trading Sundays. Large-format stores such as Kaufland, Auchan, Carrefour, Aldi, Lidl, or Biedronka will therefore be closed.

The good news, however, is that if we run out of basic food products, we do not necessarily have to starve. Even on Sundays subject to the trading ban, small neighborhood grocery stores where the owner stands behind the counter can remain open. Most Żabka stores, where the agent usually works on that day, are also open.

For fans of Sunday shopping, we have one more piece of news. Later in August, there will still be an opportunity to do shopping in markets and shopping malls. However, we will have to wait just a little longer for this occasion. The nearest trading Sunday falls on August 30, 2026.

Only four trading Sundays remain until the end of 2026, of which as many as three are in December, and the closest one is right at the end of August.

Who is Exempt from the Sunday Trading Ban?

It is worth remembering that the Sunday trading ban does not apply to all entrepreneurs. The legislator has provided a list of exceptions to the rule, and there are quite a few of them. Every Sunday we can freely use the services of confectioneries, cafes, ice cream parlors, flower shops, and press stores. Shopping can also be done at gas stations and even in post office branches, provided that revenues from this activity constitute at least 40 percent of the sales revenue of a given facility.

However, severe penalties are threatened for breaking the Sunday trading ban. These range from 1,000 PLN to 100,000 PLN, and persistent violation of regulations may even carry a penalty of restriction of freedom.
