Israel has provided the United States with intelligence indicating that Iran is actively considering an assassination attempt against Donald Trump, following long-standing threats of retaliation for the death of Qasem Soleimani.

Historical Context of Iranian Threats
Wall Street Journal reporters noted that Iran has previously vowed to retaliate against Donald Trump for the assassination of high-ranking Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps General Qasem Soleimani. Similar rhetoric emerged following the death of Iranian leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed in joint American and Israeli operations.
During Khamenei’s funeral, mourners displayed banners reading “we will kill Trump,” “blood will be shed,” and declaring their revenge inevitable. Many of these banners featured portraits of the former American president.
Intelligence Reports and Trump’s Response
Israel recently provided the United States with new intelligence suggesting that Iran is planning an attack on the president, according to unofficial reports from the Wall Street Journal. When questioned, the White House directed inquiries to comments Trump made during a press conference at the NATO summit in Ankara.
Trump stated that he is on a list of targets for elimination, noting he has been fortunate so far but that his luck may not last. He emphasized that he is aware of the threat and believes he is on every Iranian target list.
Escalation Between Washington and Tehran
Journalists suggest this intelligence could signal a further escalation in the conflict between Washington and Iran. U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) recently conducted attacks on over 80 targets in Iran following three Iranian attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, which CENTCOM cited as a violation of the ceasefire and maritime freedom.
On July 8, the U.S. military concluded another round of strikes, targeting approximately 90 Iranian military sites. These included air defense systems, coastal surveillance infrastructure, missile and drone bases, and logistical facilities along the Iranian coast.
