Jacek Kurski Questioned Over Zbigniew Ziobro’s Flight to the USA

Former TVP head Jacek Kurski testified at the National Prosecutor’s Office regarding allegations that he assisted former Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro in fleeing to the United States to evade legal proceedings.

Prosecutorial Inquiry into Ziobro’s Departure

Jacek Kurski appeared at the National Prosecutor’s Office on Monday to testify as a witness in the Justice Fund investigation. The inquiry aims to determine if individuals aided Zbigniew Ziobro in his flight to the U.S., thereby obstructing the ongoing criminal investigation.

Prosecutors are examining whether external parties helped Ziobro escape and avoid accountability. Before reaching the U.S. via a flight from Milan to New York using a foreign media visa, Ziobro had spent several months in Hungary, where he reportedly received international protection.

Kurski Denies Housing the Former Minister

Following the session, Kurski told TVN24 that he refuted media reports suggesting he had provided shelter to Ziobro at a townhome he owns near Washington. He stated that while he would be honored to host the former minister, no such stay has occurred.

Prosecutor Przemysław Nowak confirmed the questioning was standard and that Kurski appeared voluntarily. The prosecutor noted that the testimony was required to verify reports regarding Ziobro’s potential stay in the U.S. and to gather any information on his current whereabouts.

Legal Status of Zbigniew Ziobro

Zbigniew Ziobro, a former Justice Minister and current PiS MP, faces allegations involving the leadership of an organized criminal group and the abuse of power. Prosecutors attribute 26 criminal acts to him, including the unlawful manipulation of Justice Fund grants.

The Sejm authorized his detention in late 2025, and a district court subsequently approved an arrest warrant. A search warrant was issued, and an application for a European Arrest Warrant was filed with the court.
