Circumstances of the Accident
The incident occurred at approximately 9:10 a.m. on Niepodległości Street in Świdnik. A 49-year-old judge, identified as Magdalena S., struck 82-year-old Czesław B. while he was using a marked pedestrian crossing.
Emergency services arrived at the scene to find the victim unconscious. Despite medical intervention and transport to a hospital, Czesław B. died on June 16, 2026, due to injuries sustained in the collision.
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
The Siedlce District Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation on June 17, 2026. Evidence gathered includes witness statements, site inspection reports, and CCTV footage. Officials have confirmed that the driver was sober at the time of the incident.
The case is being treated under Article 177 § 2 of the Penal Code, which concerns causing a fatal traffic accident. This offense carries a potential prison sentence ranging from six months to eight years.

Investigators have completed initial evidence collection, including a technical analysis of the Kia Stonic involved and the victim’s medical records. No charges have been filed against the driver as of yet.
