Committee Recommends Lifting MP Immunity
Almost four hours of committee discussion focused on whether to strip Civic Coalition (KO) MP Wojciech Król of his parliamentary immunity. Ultimately, it was recommended that the Sejm grant permission for the measure, though a motion for temporary arrest was rejected.
Two Separate Allegations Involve Job Offer and EU Grant
Voting on the immunity waiver took place twice in the parliamentary Rules and Deputies’ Affairs Committee because the application lists two distinct acts. The first involves an alleged offer of help to secure a position at Tramwaje Śląskie in exchange for financial benefits. The second concerns accepting over 1.4 million PLN in exchange for assistance in obtaining an EU grant for the Stara Huta project in Chorzów.
Final Decision Rests with the Sejm
In both voting instances regarding the immunity requests, 15 deputies voted in favor, one abstained, and one voted against. However, the final decision regarding the matter will be made by the Sejm.
