Thick black smoke billowed over Warsaw on Thursday morning as a major fire tore through a workshop and connected car showroom, mobilizing dozens of emergency crews.

The spokesperson reported that the notification regarding the fire was received on Thursday at 5:09 AM. Upon arriving at the scene, it was determined that a workshop and a connected car showroom measuring approximately 80 by 40 meters were on fire, with 38 fire departments currently working at the location.

It was added that the fire has not yet been localized, and among the firefighters engaged in the firefighting operation are a specialized chemical rescue group, aerial platforms, and reconnaissance drones.

Surrounding Area Impact and Traffic Conditions

Wyborcza describes the location as a densely populated area surrounded by 10-story blocks of the Bródno housing estate, where residents are warning each other to close their windows, and a pillar of black smoke rises hundreds of meters into the air without currently heading toward the residential blocks. Vehicle traffic on the nearby section of the S8 route is flowing normally.

Police Security Measures and Ongoing Investigation

The capital’s police announced on the X platform that officers are securing the area of Krasnobrodzka Street, where rescue and firefighting operations are being conducted, while appealing to residents to follow the instructions of services and not approach the site of the fire.

Vehicle traffic on the nearby section of the S8 route is flowing normally, and the police stated that officers from the Warsaw VI District Police Command, supported by officers from the Metropolitan Police Road Traffic Department and the Warsaw Police Prevention Unit, are participating in security operations, with the exact causes of the fire to be determined after the firefighting operation concludes.
