Michałów Stud’s Epiforana Crowned Best Horse at Janów Podlaski National Show

A two-year-old grey mare from the Michałów State Stud has triumphed at the 48th National Arabian Horse Show in Janów Podlaski ahead of the prestigious Pride of Poland auction.

The 2-year-old grey mare Epiforana from the Michałów stud was chosen as the best horse of the 48th Purebred Arabian Horse National Show in Janów Podlaski. The event gathered approximately 1,200 outstanding horses from state and private breeding farms, serving as an introduction to the prestigious Pride of Poland auction.

Mare Epiforana from the Michałów stud was recognized on Sunday as the best horse of the 48th Purebred Arabian Horse National Show in Janów Podlaski in the Lublin Voivodeship. She also won the Polish Junior Female Championship. Approximately 120 horses from state and private studs were presented at the show.

Senate Marshal on the Tradition of the Polish Arabian Horse

The opening of the final day of the championship was attended by, among others, Senate Marshal Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska. In her opinion, the Polish Arabian horse is our heritage and pride because Poland’s entire tradition is connected to its history.

Kidawa-Błońska stated that a new quality and organization are being built in this place, emphasizing that horse breeding requires love and professionalism. She praised the breeders and professionals who ensure the birth of such magnificent, beautiful horses characterized by beauty, courage, and speed.

Polish Championship Results for Mares and Stallions

The best horse of the 48th Purebred Arabian Horse National Show was the 2-year-old grey mare Epiforana from the Michałów stud, which also won the Polish Junior Female Championship for two- and three-year-old horses.

The Polish Senior Female Championship was won by Ekarosa from the Michałów stud, while the Yearling Female Champion title went to Paralia from the Janów Podlaski stud. The Polish Senior Stallion Champion was Ptolemeusz from Michałów, the Polish Junior Stallion Champion title was won by Dytwin from Michałów, and the Polish Yearling Stallion Champion was Porfirio from the Janów stud.

Course of the 48th National Arabian Horse Show

The Purebred Arabian Horse National Show lasted for three days at the stud in Janów Podlaski. Approximately 120 horses were entered for this year’s show, coming from state studs in Janów Podlaski, Michałów, and Białka, as well as from private owners.

An international jury evaluated the horses in 15 classes divided by age, judging mares and stallions separately. The judges assessed type, head and neck, body, legs, and movement.

Pride of Poland Auction Offering

In the afternoon in Janów Podlaski, the Pride of Poland Arabian horse auction took place, putting 15 mares and one stallion up for sale from the state studs in Janów Podlaski, Michałów, and Białka. Item number zero in the offering was an embryo from sire Fajer and dam Protekcja, sold together with its surrogate dam Fortunatka from the Michałów stud.

Representatives from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, Great Britain, Denmark, and Slovenia confirmed their participation in the auction.

Favorites of the Annual Licitations

The star of the auction was slated to be the mare Poganinka from the Michałów stud, an 11-year-old Junior Gold Champion from Białka in 2017 and European Senior Silver Champion Mare in 2019. The 2-year-old El Bella from the Michałów stud was also listed among the favorites.

On Monday, buyers will be able to bid on additional horses during the Summer Sale Arabian Horse Auction. This year, 22 mares and three stallions originating from state studs and private breeding farms are scheduled to be offered at lower prices than at Pride of Poland.

Last year’s Pride of Poland auction successfully hammered 13 horses for a total amount of 1 million 331 thousand euros, while the Summer Sale auction sold 19 horses for approximately 215 thousand euros.
