Morawiecki Decides to Form a New Parliamentary Club Amid PiS Tensions

Former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and a group of lawmakers have announced the formation of a new parliamentary club, bypassing internal party disputes within PiS.

Mateusz Morawiecki stated during a press conference that recent party games within PiS are completely unnecessary, adding that true splitters want to focus on party life and themselves. He announced that 40 MPs and senators decided to establish a new parliamentary club to serve as a political platform for action, complementing the expert and think-tank activities of the “Rozwój Plus” association.

PiS Political Committee and Disciplinary Proceedings

PiS Spokesperson Rafał Bochenek announced that the PiS Political Committee approved a list of 44 individuals who failed to submit the required declaration of non-affiliation with associations in time or used the wrong form. Bochenek stated that the cases have been handed over to the party disciplinary spokesperson to handle each individual case formally and legally, clarifying that these members are still formally in the party.

Reactions and Ongoing Disputes

Contradicting earlier PiS leadership announcements, the formal expiration of membership for these individuals has not been confirmed. Ahead of the “Rozwój Plus” association meeting, Morawiecki told journalists that the Political Committee’s announcement is an attempt to drag out a poor soap opera that does not serve the Republic of Poland, asserting that the lack of signature on the required loyalty declaration resulted in their removal from the party.
