Near-Drowning Incident at Karczunek Reservoir: 37-Year-Old Resuscitated

A 37-year-old man was rescued from the Karczunek reservoir in Kałuszyn on Saturday evening after disappearing underwater, with responders successfully restoring his vital signs before airlifting him to a hospital.

Emergency Response and Rescue

On Saturday, June 27, before 8:00 PM, a major rescue operation took place at the Karczunek reservoir in Kałuszyn, located in Mińsk County. A 37-year-old man vanished beneath the water’s surface, triggering an immediate response from police, firefighters, and medical personnel.

Officers from the Kałuszyn Police Station and the Mińsk Mazowiecki Traffic Department, alongside local firefighters, entered the water to conduct a search. The man was eventually located underwater and pulled to the shore.

Medical Intervention and Recovery

Once the man was brought to land, CPR was initiated on the beach while awaiting further medical assistance. A medical rescue team and a helicopter from the Air Ambulance Service were dispatched to the scene.

Due to the collaborative efforts of the rescuers, the man’s vital functions were restored. Following stabilization, he was transported by air ambulance to a hospital for further treatment.

Context of Water Safety

Government Security Center statistics indicate that two other people drowned in Poland on the same day in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian and Greater Poland voivodeships. Since April 1, a total of 74 people have drowned in the country.
