New Maximum Towing and Impoundment Fees Set for 2027 in Poland

Drivers in Poland face higher towing and impoundment costs in 2027 as the Ministry of Finance and Economy announces new maximum statutory rates for vehicle removal and secure parking.

New Maximum Fees for Vehicle Towing and Impoundment in 2027

Drivers who must use a tow truck may pay more in 2027. The Minister announced new maximum rates for removing a vehicle from the road and storing it in a guarded parking lot. For certain vehicles, the towing fee alone will exceed 2,400 PLN.

An announcement by the Minister of Finance and Economy determining the maximum fee rates for vehicle removal from the road and storage in a guarded parking lot in 2027 has been published in Monitor Polski.

Increases in Towing Fees Compared to Previous Years

Compared to 2026, all maximum rates have increased, though the hikes are not steep. The driver of a passenger car with a permissible total weight of up to 3.5 tons will pay a maximum of 770 PLN for towing instead of 749 PLN, which is 21 PLN more. For a motorcycle, the maximum fee will increase by 10 PLN, while for a bicycle, moped, or electric scooter, it will rise by 5 PLN. The largest increase applies to vehicles carrying hazardous materials, where the maximum fee for removal will rise from 2,367 PLN to 2,431 PLN, an increase of 64 PLN.

Higher Storage Rates at Guarded Parking Facilities

Maximum fees for storing vehicles in guarded parking lots will also increase. For a passenger car, the rate will be 67 PLN for each started day of storage instead of 65 PLN, an increase of 2 PLN. For the largest vehicles, the rate will rise from 215 PLN to 221 PLN per day, and for vehicles carrying hazardous materials, from 312 PLN to 321 PLN.

Local Council Authority and Total Expenses

It is worth remembering that these are maximum rates, not uniform fees applied across all of Poland. The final fee amounts are determined by county councils and city councils with county rights. Local governments can set fees at a lower level, but in practice, many of them apply rates close to the maximum. Furthermore, each additional day the vehicle remains in the parking lot increases the cost of retrieval, meaning delays can result in expenses reaching not just hundreds, but even several thousand PLN—especially in the case of trucks.

Grounds and Legal Basis for Vehicle Removal

Not only improperly parked cars can end up on a tow truck. Regulations outline a series of situations in which authorities have the right to remove a vehicle from the road. After towing, the owner must pay not only for the removal of the vehicle from the road but also for each started day of storage in a guarded parking lot. The later the owner retrieves the car, the higher the total cost will be.
