Detection of hazardous gases
The incident occurred on Wednesday at approximately 1:18 a.m. Sensors positioned at the 950-meter level recorded a sudden, significant increase in carbon monoxide concentration, immediately triggering safety systems to alert personnel to the life-threatening situation.
Evacuation and medical assessment
A total of 24 miners were working in the affected area of the Sośnica mine. All personnel were evacuated in accordance with established safety protocols without the need to deploy emergency breathing apparatus. Medical examinations conducted following the evacuation confirmed that no workers sustained injuries during the incident.
Operational status at the Sośnica mine
The Sośnica Coal Mine continues to operate under normal conditions, with the exception of the specific zone where the gas spike was recorded. For safety reasons, the area has been isolated and is currently undergoing ventilation procedures.
